Trade FAQ
Trade and procurement questions
The questions procurement teams, landlords and electricians ask us most. Can't see yours? Ask the trade desk.
Tier pricing and price holds
When are tier prices published?
As soon as trade terms with the maker are signed. Until then every line shows TBC.
How is my tier worked out?
By the total number of kits on one order, across all six lines. The count is the number of homes, since each home has one kit.
Can a price be held for a programme?
For housing programmes and resellers ordering in stages, we'll talk about holding a tier across a year. Terms are agreed case by case.
Accounts, payment and invoices
How do trade accounts pay?
Pay-as-you-order: each order is paid before dispatch or collection. We're not offering credit accounts at launch.
Who can open an account?
Landlords, letting agents, housing providers, electrical contractors and resellers buying for homes in England, Scotland or Wales.
Will invoices show your trading details?
Yes. Every invoice and proposal carries our trading name and address.
Stock, lead times and delivery
Is there stock now?
No. Kits aren't on sale yet. Join the kit list and we'll email you when supply dates are confirmed.
Where do you deliver?
Across the North East by van or wagon from NE13, with charges on each proposal. Outside the region, ask us.
Can we collect?
Yes, from the trade counter at NE13 7BA, once stock lands.
How heavy are the cartons?
From 41kg (Compact 460W) to 96kg (Max 1260W). Plan two people per carton.
Documentation and tenants
What documents come with a proposal?
Our spec summary per line, ENA Type Test Register status, a warranty summary and the per-household checklist.
Is there a tenant handover pack?
It's being written: plugging straight into the wall socket, no extension leads, no batteries, registration at myplugin.solar and what to do about a fault. Coming soon.
Do tenants get paid for power sent to the grid?
No. Electricity a plug-in kit sends to the grid isn't paid for, so the value is in daytime use.
Can a kit go on a balcony?
No. The maker's datasheets say these kits aren't suitable for balconies.
Can a kit be used with a home battery?
No. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery.
Does it need an electrician?
The kits are made to be set up without an installer or scaffolding. Each home needs a weatherproof outdoor socket within 4m and modern RCD protection, which an electrician can fit or check. Kits over 960W of panels should have a professional check of the electrics, and wall installs need a professional assessment.
