What tenants get

Free daytime power that the home uses first: the fridge, the router, the washing machine on a sunny morning. The saving shows up on the tenant's own electricity bill.
- Nothing to switch on each day once it's registered and plugged in
- An app on the microinverter (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) to see what the panels are making
- A plain-English tenant handover pack, coming soon
Electricity the kit sends to the grid isn't paid for, so the most value comes from daytime use. That's why busy family homes see the biggest savings.
Rollout, fitting and handover
We supply; you or your electrician set each kit up. There's no installer and no scaffolding.
- 01Permissions and insurance
Written permission from the freeholder or managing agent where you don't own the freehold, and your building insurer told.
- 02Socket and RCD
A weatherproof outdoor socket within 4m of each spot and modern RCD protection. An electrician can fit or check both.
- 03Delivery or collection
Drops to each address, one site, or counter collection in NE13.
- 04Set up
Stand, panels and ballast, plugged straight into the socket. Wall installs only after a professional assessment.
- 05Register and hand over
Each kit registered free at myplugin.solar before first use, then handed over to the tenant.
Portfolio pricing
One proposal covers the portfolio: the kit mix by property type, ballast per site, and delivery or collection, each priced on its own line. Your tier comes from the total number of homes.
Trade prices are TBC until terms with the maker are signed. How the tiers work.

*Estimate for one household with the Max 1260W kit: a busy four-person home with someone in all day, using 70% of what the kit makes, at the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026). That's around £1,760 over 10 years and £3,430 over 20 at today's rate, allowing for the panels losing 0.5% of their output a year. Electricity sent to the grid isn't paid for. See the working in the estimator.
Questions
Does every flat in a block count separately?
Yes, if each flat is its own household. Each one can have one kit, registered to its own address.
How does an HMO count?
We're confirming how one kit per household applies to shared houses before we package them. Ask us about your HMOs and we'll tell you what we can supply.
Do I need permission?
If you don't own the freehold, get written permission from the freeholder or managing agent. Tell your building insurer before the kits go in, and let your tenants know in advance.
Who looks after the kit?
The kit belongs with the property, like any other fixture you provide. Faults go through the manufacturer's warranty: 10 years on the panels and stand.
Can I put a kit on an upstairs flat's wall?
Only a hybrid line, and only after a professional assessment, which the maker requires for any wall install. Boundary and shared walls are out for every kit.
